Geography Club

The Geography club aims to develop knowledge and insight among the students regarding geography of India as well as the world the world. Formation of this club aims not only sound knowledge but also activities related to saving of Environment and surrounding. The club proposes following activities for the forthcoming Session.
1. Tree Plantation (Environment Day)
2. Measuring of rainfall with the help of Rain gauge, keeping a record of temp, humidity etc.
3. Visit to Agriculture College to know about soil type, Soil testing type etc.
4. Awareness camp for the conservation of water with the help of slogans, posters etc and Rainwater harvesting.
5. To create a multimedia presentation showing Natural and manmade wonders related to geography.

In Geography club students will work in teams to study and practice for the district Geography Bee, a trivia competition with categories focused on physical and human geography, history, global issues, and current events.  Meetings will be held once a week starting in January

Geography Club promotes understanding and global awareness. Members will compete in a “Geo Bowl” that challenges their geographic knowledge just prior to AP Exams

Are you interested in learning about other countries? Join us to learn fun geography facts such as:

  • Where is a particular country located?
  • What do the people look like?
  • How do they dress?
  • What do they eat?
  • What kind of house do they live in?
  • What kinds of games do the kids play?

After a busy seven days of research, students present their projects at the International Mall with display boards of the country, food tasting, and even dressing up to reflect the culture.

ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

In our short life we have conducted a number of adventurous and “inventurous” activities namely industry visit to Petrotrin,food exhibit and sale- Taste the World, Photo exhibition & Competition- Natural vs. Manmade,G.P.S training by skilled surveyors and not to mention foreign speakers in cutting edge topics such as Dr. Robert Bryant on ‘Remote Sensing of Dryland areas’.

ACTIVITIES PLANNED

The club will like to expand on its success and repertoire by undertaking a number of refreshing and enthralling events this semester. These include and are not limited to
Geocaching,Exploration of Natural features such as the Salt Lake on Chacachacare and beautifying the environment through clean ups,Rock climbing, Visits to informative agencies such as the Meteorological Office.’ An enterprising talent competition; Show your talent – creation of geographic monuments, G.P.S tracking and many more

LOVE TO LEARN ABOUT NEW PLACES NEAR AND FAR?

Collins PTA, along with school staff who volunteer their time, run the Geography Club after school for interested 4th and 5th grade students.
